Discover the delights of the Shenandoah Valley. We will be glad to provide suggestions, maps and information for you. Some of our favorites are:
Park the car and spend the day in Lexington. Start with a Horse Drawn Carriage Tour, stroll the campuses of Washington & Lee University and the Virginia Military Institute and tour the historic Civil War General Stonewall Jackson House and Cemetery. Take some time to enjoy the great shopping and dining in this lovely historic town.
Settle back in your car and enjoy our favorite local driving tour on one of Virginia’s Scenic Byways. Visit Cyrus McCormick’s Farm and Workshop, sip some fine wines at the Rockbridge Vineyard, and stop by the Buffalo Springs Herb Farm and Wade’s Mill. Swing through the quaint village of Brownsburg, then continue on to Goshen Pass, a stunningly beautiful mountain gorge where you can walk or take a dip in a mountain stream. The Blue Ridge Parkway is also a favorite for driving and easy access to many beautiful hikes in the Blue Ridge Mountains, including the Appalachian Trail.

Just a few minutes farther south is Natural Bridge and the Virginia Safari Park, a 180-acre drive-through zoo with animals from six continents.
Horse lovers shouldn’t miss a visit to the Virginia Horse Center. This state-of-the-art exhibition facility has a wide range of events throughout the year.
Outdoor adventurers – there is plenty to keep you busy! Hike, bike, golf, ride horseback, canoe, kayak, fly fish…click here for a detailed list of outdoor activities and outfitters.
If you love theatre and the arts…don’t miss a performance at the Lime Kiln Theatre, where a summer evening, a starry sky, rock walls, and an earthen floor combine to provide a unique setting for a fabulous performance at this one-of-a-kind theatre. |

Unwind and delight in the quiet, comfortable elegance of our 38-acre country retreat. Relax in your private Bed & Breakfast Suite or Cottage Suite, or curl up on the porch and watch the clouds float over the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our grounds provide endless opportunities to commune with nature: stroll in the shade along our spring-fed stream as the bluebirds swoop by, feed the goldfish in our two-tier garden pond while listening to the cascading waters, and wander in our lovely gardens. When you are ready for more activity, you can romp in the meadows with your favorite companions (we are pet friendly and welcome dogs)... or bring your plane and take advantage of our wide-open spaces and private RC airfield.
